8th Grade Promotion and Celebration Information
We are so excited for our kids’ 8th grade year and can’t wait to get started on the planning for this year’s events. We want to update you with the information regarding the 8th Grade promotion process and hopefully answer any questions you might have.
The 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony and Celebration will be held on Wednesday, June 12, 2019 in the evening, starting at 6pm. This is a memorable night for our graduates and their families. Throughout the year we will send out information and reminders for yearbook ads, baby pictures, promotion practice times, etc.
Donation Per Student
$70 dollars per student is suggested to cover rentals, programs, and decorations for the Promotion Ceremony. This donation will also cover the cost of food, entertainment and decorations for the Celebration immediately following the ceremony.
Any additional donation will help make the night even more special and is greatly appreciated!
Please note: We ask for this donation up front so that we can determine our budget for the event. This is a voluntary donation amount to cover all costs associated with the Promotion Party and Celebration.
Tickets for the Promotion Ceremony
Each 8th grader may invite up to four guests to the Promotion Ceremony. Additional tickets may be requested but cannot be guaranteed. Guests must have a voucher for admission. So, please complete this form and return it with your donation to the front office. You may also take advantage of on line purchasing now at https://store.mbmswaves.com/. Online purchasing is preferred. Vouchers will be sent out in the beginning of June 2019 to the email or address on file in the office.

PBIS - Positive Behavior Intervention Strategies
Fulcrum Youth Leadership Day was a fun day for all! Check out pics HERE
As you know, we partnered with the trained coaches from Fulcrum and our MBMS staff to provide a unique experience for our 8th graders that highlighted skills such as collaboration, communication, problem solving, citizenship and critical thinking. The skills learned on this day are valuable and important to a successful year, transition to high school, and life in general! Examples of challenges were:
- Designing and building a boat that can race across Begg Pool
- A station revolving around community and positive impact - focusing on experiential games and challenges focusing on student choices impacting the bigger community and global impact
- A station with 3 Leadership challenges - requiring students to plan, strategize, lead, create and implement their strategies as a team to complete their mission
We are looking forward to continuing to build on the skills learned Wednesday throughout the year with additional follow up in and out of class. Students will be surveyed for their feedback as well so that this first-time-ever program can be improved upon for future years.
